#19 Web 2.0 Tools

I have chosen "Face Book" from the "Social Networking" category, the winner I might add because it's so ... cool? groovy? awesome? any and all of the above depending on your age I guess.

Basically you set up your account, which is free, and then create a profile for yourself. The whole point of this website is to connect you with all of your friends, family and acquaintances that also have an account (hence a profile), which means you can use the site to interact with them, see what they are doing, share photos, leave them messages and much more.

The search facility to find you friends is very easy to use and has multiple features which allows you to search using different parameters such as name and email address. You can even give the site permission to go to you email account and check if anyone on your email contact has an account with Face Book, how easy is that?

You can join "networks" which are based around a company, region, or school. That way you can more easily find people and create an online community.

As for you personal information you can keep it private to some extent. Here's the official word on that: "At Facebook, we believe that people should have control over how they share their information and who can see it. People can only see the profiles of confirmed friends and the people in their networks. You can use our privacy settings at any time to control who can see what on Facebook.".

The Internet is no longer a big scary place ... just full of people you know but didn't know where there!
